Why Would Coolant Be Leaking Into Oil??

Saw this and I know from talking with Brian and Clint that this a hard thing to find. A 00' Blazer 4.3l w/ standard tranny, but there is "that" problem i mentioned in the title.
What would it take to fix?

Here's the blazer, I had to do a double take.

Re: Why Would Coolant Be Leaking Into Oil??

my guess is a lower intake manifold gasket. very common on that engine.

only problem is how much damage has been done? with enough coolant in the oil for long enough it might have a spun bearing and the whole engine is shot. some people catch it when there car starts to over heat from low coolant, but then there are those people who think "oh it has a coolant leak" and just top it off every few days untill they spin a bearing...

Yes, but would it be worth it, I'm not too big on projects I can't drive.

From the pics it looks decent. Worst case, if the engine is shot you could still get someplace to put one in for a decent price and not have a lot invested since the truck is only $1700.

Re: Why Would Coolant Be Leaking Into Oil??

If it were shot and I actually bought it, I think I'd throw a 5.3 in it depending on price. I have no idea where to look for motors or who does quality work. I would still want the reliabilty and not have to worry about breakin down.

Also leaning towards single cab casue i would realy like to give the autocross a go.
